Angela Merlo MD About

With a career spanning over two decades, Angela Merlo, MD, has added value to key medical organizations and enhanced the education of many nurses and physicians-in-training, all while serving the medical needs of women, men, and children in Mercer County, New Jersey.

Angela Merlo, MD, performed much work in conjunction with the Helene Fuld Medical Center, now Capital Health Regional Medical Center. She served as Chairman for the center’s Nutrition Committee from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2006 to 2007. She also served on the center’s Medical Education Committee for four years. In the past, Dr. Merlo also functioned as Associate Director for the Department of Medicine, Internal Medicine Residency Research Coordinator, and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education.

In addition, Dr. Merlo was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor and then Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She has also served on the Mercer County Medical Society Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board of MEDTAP Institute.

Angela Merlo, MD, began her education at City College of New York, where she earned her Bachelor of Science summa cum laude. After receiving her Ph.D. from The Rockefeller University, she completed her Doctor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. As part of her postgraduate studies, Dr. Merlo trained as a resident in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York and as a fellow in Gastroenterology at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Merlo enjoys Diplomate status in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
